Is it just me, or does the red front on gray background look bad?

the white font on gray is a bit hard to read too. customizing can be cool, and thanks very much for doing this as we needed it, but from experience there is a reason book and such are black on white. I mean it is like clean fonts, just easier on the eyes, less strain, etc.
